Scary mask to chase away evil spirits! Teepee at sunset. Another young dancer joins the ranks.
There are quite a few performances to watch at the Frontier Park Indian Village. Everyone is welcome to dance in an intertribal dance - even spectators! As seen in the lower left photo, ugly, scary masks are worn to scare away evil spirits from harming unwary villagers. (Photos by Jennifer Jurgens / WyomingNetwork, Inc.)

Thursday, July 24
Despite the rainstorm before the concert, Jason Aldean and Miranda Lambert's show drew a large crowd of people. There will be night shows again on Friday and Saturday night. (Photos by Donny Green / WyomingNetwork, Inc.)

Don't forget to accessorize your beautiful western duds! Fresh salsa, made YOUR way! It's so hard to choose which hat to buy...
Shopping at CFD can be very exciting, as visitors have the opportunity to purchase western clothing, cowboy hats, jewelry, art, and even western furniture. No trip to the exhibit area would be complete without watching a product demonstration! (Photos by Jennifer Jurgens / WyomingNetwork, Inc.)

Hangin' out and visitin' at the Gulch. Chuckwagon Cookoff! Catching up with each other.
You can't resist the temptation of kettle korn! Were people a little shorter in the old days? Looks like some fur trading!
Taking a stroll down the Wild Horse Gulch brings us to a different time and place. It doesn't seem so long ago that cooks had to feed hungry cowboys out of the chuckwagon, and furs were being traded along the plains. (Photos by Jennifer Jurgens / WyomingNetwork, Inc.)

Coming within close contact! Pulling the blocks away before takeoff. I'm right over you!
The precision team is standing at attention. In formation, with smoke on. Using some of the radar equipment.
The USAF Thunderbirds put on quite a show Wednesday morning. These photos from the USAF Thunderbirds are part of the 2008 media images. The elite air demonstration team performs precision aerial maneuvers to showcase the strengths of the aircraft and the exceptional skills of the pilots. This year marks the 55th anniversary of the Thunderbirds. (Photos by Aerial Photographers, Technical Sergeant Justin D. Pyle and Staff Sergeant Kristi Machado, USAF)

Stand up straight and hold on! One of the many games to play at the carnival. The big ferris wheel!
Up, down, and all around! Alpine Bobs takes ya on a ride! Gone Fishin! He tries his luck at this game.
Although there aren't as many carnival rides as in past years, a lot of fun is still to be had at CFD. According to one of the "carnies," the fewer rides were due to the increased cost of fuel to run the generators. (Photos by Jennifer Jurgens / WyomingNetwork, Inc.)

Monday, July 21
Multiple pancakes being prepared. Catching the flapjacks in the air! Coffee anyone? Over 520 gallons will be served.
Even the little ones are enjoying the breakfast! 3,000 pounds of ham will be cooked this year. Hungry visitors getting their fill.
It was breakfast with thousands of your closest friends this morning, as the annual Kiwanis Free Pancake Breakfast kicked off in downtown Cheyenne.  Visitors were treated to pancakes, ham, and coffee, and milk for the kids, along with free entertainment from the Chugwater Philharmonic Orchestra and other groups.  Organizers say they can serve more than 10,000 people in two hours.  Other pancake breakfasts take place Wednesday and Friday.  (Photos by Dave Lerner / WyomingNetwork, Inc.)

Rascal Flatts and Taylor Swift took stage Saturday and Sunday for the night concert. What a great show they put on; the audience was really into it! Rascal Flatts kicked it off with a bang when it looked like the comet coming out of the big screen behind the band exploded on stage. (Photos by Jennifer Jurgens / WyomingNetwork, Inc.)

Moving right along Frontage Road

Almost there...just a few more yards.

We lost one!

Up close and personal. Meet the stars!

Split 'em Up!

Quite the crowd!

Cheyenne Frontier Days officially starts on Friday, July 18, but things got off with a bang ... or a moooooo ... on Sunday morning when 550 head of Corriente long horned steers were driven from the pasture north of Cheyenne along I-25 and through the city streets into Frontier Park. Only one steer escaped, and that was as the herd turned into Lions Park. A quick cowboy caught the cow and steered it back with the herd. The group was then "split" by several cowboys and their cutting horses into groups intended for wrestling and roping. (Photos by Lisa Kindel / WyomingNetwork, Inc.)
